The BIOGAS Convention & Trade Fair is the world’s largest international event in the biogas sector, and it’s making its grand return. The 27th annual convention, hosted by the German Biogas Association, is set to coincide with this year’s trade fair, creating the dynamic duo known as the BIOGAS Convention & Trade Fair.
The German Biogas Association, with its members and extensive network, brings a wealth of expertise to the table, resulting in a cutting-edge program that delves into both national and international issues. In 2017, this event boasted 348 exhibitors and welcomed over 6,000 enthusiastic visitors.
This year, the BIOGAS Convention & Trade Fair 2023 is scheduled from December 12 to 14, taking place in the vibrant city of Nuremberg.
As of 2018, Germany was home to 9,444 biogas plants, boasting a combined output of 4,953 megawatts (MWel). However, new plant construction remained sluggish, with only 120 new installations and seven retirements. The industry is bracing for another 20 percent decrease in new construction for 2019. While the latest statistics are yet to be released, the sector has shown greater flexibility, resulting in a significant 403 MW surge in installed electrical output compared to the previous year.
In 2018, German biogas plants contributed to a total electricity generation of 33.15 terawatt hours, effectively reducing CO2 emissions by a remarkable 20 million tonnes through the substitution of fossil fuels. With a substantial annual turnover of 9.7 billion euros and providing employment for 49,000 individuals, the biogas industry plays a vital role in regional economic development.
The BIOGAS Convention & Trade Fair is set to be a pivotal event, where the latest developments in renewable energy and biogas will take center stage, underlining the industry’s commitment to sustainability and carbon footprint reduction. Join us in Nuremberg for this remarkable convergence of innovation and environmental stewardship.
